Newly declassified records have exposed that former Vice President Joe Biden sought to suppress an intelligence report detailing concerns about his family’s alleged ties to corrupt business dealings in Ukraine. The documents, released by CIA Director John Ratcliffe, reveal that Biden directly requested the information not be shared, a move condemned as a clear attempt to obstruct transparency.

The records, obtained during a CIA review of historical agency files, include an email from February 2016 showing Biden’s preference that a report on Ukrainian officials’ concerns about his family’s business connections remain confidential. The intelligence, which highlighted perceptions of a “double standard” in U.S. government actions regarding corruption, was never disseminated beyond the CIA.

Ratcliffe described the handling of the report as an example of “politicization of intelligence,” emphasizing its rarity and inappropriateness. The House Oversight Committee shared the declassified materials, which underscore Biden’s efforts to shield his family from scrutiny. Representatives for Biden did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

The revelation adds to ongoing questions about Biden’s involvement in Ukraine-related matters, including his past threats to withhold $1 billion in aid unless Ukrainian officials removed a prosecutor investigating Burisma Holdings, where his son Hunter sat on the board.
