Mark Cuban, founder of Cost Plus Drugs, praised President Donald Trump’s TrumpRx initiative during a congressional hearing on prescription drug affordability, calling it “incredible” and “stupendous.” The remarks came as Cuban announced his company would integrate with TrumpRx, offering its pricing data via an API to ensure patients benefit from lower costs.

Cuban emphasized that TrumpRX, a platform connecting patients directly with discounted medications, could bypass traditional pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) and reduce expenses for consumers. He highlighted the program’s potential to save seniors and others money by eliminating middlemen, noting that direct-to-consumer pricing for drugs like Ozempic could drop from $1,300 to under $500.

The hearing focused on systemic issues in U.S. healthcare, with Cuban stressing the importance of transparency. His company publishes daily drug prices with full cost breakdowns, a practice he said builds trust and drives savings. While acknowledging TrumpRX does not address all flaws in the healthcare system, Cuban framed the initiative as a step toward greater affordability.

The testimony followed discussions on how PBMs inflate costs by siphoning $800 per prescription into their own pockets, leaving employers and patients to bear the burden. Cuban’s remarks underscored growing scrutiny of PBM practices and the push for alternative models like TrumpRX.
