Vice President JD Vance’s home in Cincinnati was vandalized overnight with windows broken. The Vance family was not present at the time, having returned to Washington, D.C.
In a statement on X, Vance described an individual attempting to break in by hammering windows and expressed gratitude for the prompt response of the Secret Service and Cincinnati police. He noted his family was not home and requested media refrain from publishing images of the damaged property, stating: “We try to protect our kids as much as possible from the realities of this life of public service.”
Hamilton County authorities arrested William DeFoor, a 26-year-old Ohio man, early Monday after he smashed windows at Vance’s residence. According to law enforcement officials, DeFoor also vandalized a Secret Service vehicle on his way up the driveway. DeFoor is charged with obstructing official business, criminal damaging or endangering, criminal trespass, and vandalism. His first court appearance is scheduled for Tuesday.
