President Trump and the MAGA Republicans are surging in popularity.

It’s almost as if voters increasingly associate loving their country, having a strong military, cleaning up crime, deporting illegal aliens, and fixing the economy with positive political trends.

According to the poll, Trump continues to receive stronger marks for his handling of border security—a longtime signature issue—and voters still trust his party more than Democrats when it comes to managing both border security and immigration. The president also sees growing support for his focus on illegal voting as he seeks to make that a central political issue, though documented cases of ineligible voting remain rare.

When asked which party would better handle their most important issues, Republicans narrow the Democratic advantage. A significant portion of self-identified Democrats continue to view the Democratic Party negatively—a trend observed in the aftermath of the 2024 election—while the Republican Party also receives negative ratings, though not as severely.

“The electoral data points to an American electorate that is once again fed up with those in power and looking for change wherever they can find it,” said Jeff Horwitt, a Democratic pollster from Hart Research Associates who conducted the survey alongside Republican pollster Bill McInturff of Public Opinion Strategies. “This trend is compounded by widespread disapproval of President Trump’s actions on Iran and inflation.”

On key policy areas, Republicans maintain a significant lead over Democrats in border security, crime, and immigration—though their advantage has declined from a late October survey. Previously, Republicans held a 31-point edge on which party voters think would better handle border security and an 18-point margin on immigration; these advantages have shrunk to 27 points and 12 points in the latest survey.
