Rep. John Larson (D-CT) has filed 13 articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, citing the president’s escalating threats and actions as increasingly dangerous to national security. According to a press release from Larson’s office, the congressman stated: “Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) announced he has filed articles of impeachment to remove Donald Trump from office as the President becomes more unhinged and risks the lives, safety, and security of the American people.”

Larson’s resolution centers on Trump’s alleged illegal war in Iran, which he claims “has cost American lives” and driven up costs for families. The lawmaker further condemned the president’s recent behavior, noting: “He’s becoming more unstable by the day. His profane and sacrilegious Easter Sunday and subsequent threats, including ‘a whole civilization will die’ and ‘open the Strait…or you’ll be living in h,’ not only foreshadow war crimes but put our security at risk.”

The impeachment push coincides with Larson’s ongoing primary challenge from younger candidates advocating for generational change. Larson, a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee who recently experienced a complex partial seizure during a floor speech, faces opposition from Luke Bronin, a former Hartford mayor and military veteran backed by Democratic-aligned veterans groups.

Meanwhile, another House Democrat has targeted Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, with Rep. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ) announcing articles of impeachment for “repeatedly violating his oath of office and his duty to the Constitution.” Ansari asserted that Hegseth’s actions constitute “reckless endangerment of U.S. servicemembers” and “war crimes,” adding: “This isn’t partisan. Republicans, Democrats, and Independents now know that Trump is dangerous and unfit. Whether through impeachment or by invoking the 25th Amendment, it is far past time Donald Trump and Pete Hegseth are removed from office.”

Pentagon spokesperson Kingsley Wilson countered the criticism, stating: “Secretary Hegseth will continue to protect the homeland and unleash epic fury on Iran’s radical regime. This is just another charade in an attempt to distract the American people from the major successes we have had here at the Department of War.”
