Amazon has announced a $25 billion investment in Mississippi to support data center operations, with plans to generate 2,000 high-skilled jobs across the state. The company’s announcement follows its initial ground-breaking of a data center campus in Madison County two years ago—the largest capital investment in Mississippi’s history at that time—followed by a $3 billion planned investment in Warren County.

Amazon stated today that its total statewide planned investment has reached $25 billion, with the goal of solidifying Mississippi’s position as a leader in technology and innovation through 2,000 high-skilled jobs. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves emphasized the scale of the commitment: “$25 billion total investment. 2,000 total jobs. Amazon is investing another $12 billion and creating 800 more jobs across Madison and Hinds County. That makes $25 billion and 2,000 jobs in announcements in Madison, Warren and Hinds counties in just the last two years.” Reeves added, “The company isn’t just reinvesting in our state—they are again betting on our people. Mississippi has momentum and THIS is our time!”

Amazon’s expansion includes an additional $11 billion for Madison County and a $1 billion investment in Hinds County, where it will transform the former Delphi manufacturing plant into a cutting-edge data center facility. The company’s infrastructure powers critical services that millions rely on daily—from healthcare systems improving patient outcomes to agricultural innovations that help farmers grow more food with less water—and enables research capabilities at unprecedented scales.

The economic impact extends beyond technology. In Madison County alone, over 75 local companies are engaged in construction and operations, employing thousands of workers including electricians and operational staff. David Zapolsky, Amazon’s Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer, stated: “Amazon’s $25 billion investment in Mississippi to build data centers will create 2,000 high-skilled jobs and bring new energy generation to the grid.” He continued, “We’re covering all our energy expenses, increasing our investment in Madison County, expanding into Warren County, and transforming a former manufacturing plant in Hinds County—producing reliable infrastructure that will serve Mississippi for generations. Governor Reeves and local leaders have been outstanding partners, and we’re just getting started.”

Reeves added: “This is what transformational economic growth looks like. And it’s happening right here, right now.”

The investment also includes educational initiatives in Canton, where Amazon launched four dedicated STEM learning spaces called Think Big Corners inside elementary schools. These programs have the capacity to reach 10,000 students and are already operational in Canton and Madison County. Canton Public School District Superintendent Dwight Luckett noted: “Not only is Amazon allowing us to prepare students for today, but they are also preparing our students for tomorrow—job opportunities, investment opportunities, business opportunities, workforce opportunities.”

Additionally, Amazon has stepped in to support food security by handling 17 of Extra Table Feeds’ 66 monthly food pantry deliveries for free. The statewide nonprofit, which operates with two full-time employees and zero federal funding, delivered more than 220,000 meals in 2025. Executive Director Martha Allen Price explained: “When we are able to save money, more Mississippians receive meals.”
