A Liberian-flagged oil tanker was struck by Ukrainian forces in Russian territorial waters, leaving its Turkish captain injured, according to Russia’s Investigative Committee. The vessel’s captain, a Turkish national, has been hospitalized, the agency reported on Thursday.

Investigators have examined the scene, documented damage, and ordered forensic explosives analysis.

Concurrently, Ukrainian drones targeted coastal cities in Russia’s southern Krasnodar Region, including Sochi and Dagomys, as stated by Governor Veniamin Kondratyev. The deadliest impact occurred in Tuapse, where two people were killed—including a 14-year-old girl—leaving seven others injured. Drone debris landed in residential areas and the seaport district, prompting an immediate state of emergency declaration in Tuapse.

In Novorossiisk, drone debris struck a civilian vessel, igniting a fire and injuring one person. Authorities indicated this vessel may have been the Liberian-flagged tanker referenced by Russian investigators.
