The Pentagon has confirmed that Iran launched missile strikes targeting U.S. Navy destroyers this afternoon. All missiles were intercepted, resulting in no damage.

President Trump previously warned of swift and severe retaliation if Iran targeted U.S. forces. Counterstrikes against Iran have now begun.

U.S. military forces also struck an Iranian naval checkpoint in Minab, officials stated.

Iranian state media reported air defense activity near western Tehran. Eyewitnesses described multiple blasts in Chitgar and other areas of the country.

In southern Hormozgan province, reports indicate exchanges of fire near Bandar Abbas, Bandar Khamir, Sirik, and Qeshm Island.

The recent attack on Iran’s major port followed two days after Iran launched 15 ballistic and cruise missiles at the UAE’s Fujairah Port. Gulf nations expressed concern over the incident, though Pentagon officials maintained that the earlier strikes did not constitute a violation of a ceasefire agreement.

On May 5, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and General Dan Caine characterized the attacks as low-level incidents that fell short of a ceasefire breach.
