Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested on Tuesday in Wisconsin and booked into Brown County Jail on multiple domestic violence charges, according to ESPN reports.
Jacobs, 28, faced charges of battery (domestic abuse, criminal damage to property), domestic abuse, disorderly conduct (domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation), and intimidation of a victim following a complaint filed May 23. The Hobart-Lawrence Police Department was dispatched to the alleged disturbance on Saturday.
Brown County jail records indicate the strangulation and suffocation charge is a felony, while the other four charges are misdemeanors. Jacobs remained detained without bond per court documentation.
Jacobs’ attorneys vehemently denied the allegations, stating: “Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public. We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.” The attorneys are represented by David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld, and Clarence Duchac.
The Green Bay Packers confirmed they are “aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs” but noted they would withhold further comment pending the ongoing legal proceedings. The NFL stated it is “aware of the report and has been in contact with the club.”
Jacobs, a three-time Pro Bowler entering his eighth NFL season, ran for 929 yards and scored 14 touchdowns across 15 games last year. He signed a four-year, $48 million contract with the Packers prior to the 2024 season after being drafted 24th overall by the Las Vegas Raiders in 2019.
