The USMNT delivered a decisive 2-0 victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina on Thursday night, advancing to the FIFA World Cup round of 16 despite a contentious red card decision.

Opening goalscorer Folarin Balogun received a red card in the first half after inadvertently landing on a Bosnia defender’s ankle. The ruling will see the striker miss the upcoming round-of-16 clash against Belgium in Seattle on July 6.

Balogun had netted his third goal of the tournament early to put the USMNT ahead, but the incident overshadowed his efforts. In the second half, Malik Tillman sealed the win with a curling free kick that completed the victory for the 10-man United States.

The team will now face Belgium in the round of 16 on Monday, July 6. Belgium had previously advanced to this stage during the 2014 FIFA World Cup after securing victory in extra time against the United States.
