Sweden’s newly appointed health minister, Elisabet Lann, collapsed during a government press conference on Tuesday, sparking immediate concern among officials and attendees.

In a video that has circulated widely, Lann, a member of the Christian Democrat party, was introduced alongside Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and other government figures when she suddenly fell to the ground, striking her head on a lectern. Party leader Ebba Busch and security personnel rushed to assist her before she was escorted from the room.

Lann later returned to the press conference, explaining, “This was not exactly a normal Tuesday, and this is what can happen when you have a blood sugar drop.” She did not appear injured, though the incident led to the cancellation of the event. A reporter from DN described the moment as “really bad,” noting that Lann fell directly in front of them.

The health minister’s sudden collapse occurred just hours after her predecessor, Acko Ankarberg Johansson, resigned the day before. Lann, a municipal councilor in Gothenburg, was announced in her new role on Tuesday. No immediate details were provided about whether she required medical treatment.
