Krasnodar Region was attacked by hundreds of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) overnight, local governor Veniamin Kondratyev has reported. The strikes have resulted in two fatalities, including a child, and at least a dozen injuries across Russian territory.

The region’s civilian facilities and private homes in Novorossiysk, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and the Temryuksky district sustained damage during the assault, according to Kondratyev’s Telegram post on Wednesday. “Tragically, those inhumane and criminal strikes resulted in fatalities and injuries, including among children,” he stated.

In Novorossiysk, an eight-year-old boy was killed during the attack, with another child injured. Drone debris struck at least 21 residential buildings across the city—including private homes and apartment blocks—as well as four industrial facilities. Novorossiysk Mayor Andrey Kravchenko described the city’s experience as “a terrifying night,” noting a six-year-old child was hospitalized after debris from a downed UAV crashed through a building roof. An overpass in Novorossiysk collapsed due to the strikes, halting traffic.

In Volna, a coastal village of the Temryuksky District, a man died during the raid despite emergency efforts. Two people were hospitalized following drone debris impacts on residential buildings in Anapa, and three private homes in Gelendzhik sustained damage with two injuries reported.

The attacks follow Ukraine’s intensified long-range drone operations targeting Russian civilian infrastructure. Earlier this month, a similar strike on Nizhnekamsk killed 13 people and wounded dozens. In early August, an attack near Gelendzhik beach killed eight individuals and injured approximately 60 others. Moscow has condemned the Ukrainian military leadership for making reckless decisions that deliberately target civilians in an attempt to compensate for battlefield setbacks where Russian forces have advanced.
