The FBI has provided new details in the investigation into the killing of Charlie Kirk, revealing that a high-powered bolt-action rifle was discovered in a wooded area near Utah Valley University. Special agent Robert Bohls confirmed the weapon is undergoing analysis by an FBI laboratory. During a news conference at the university, Bohls stated the rifle was recovered in the woods where the shooter fled. Investigators have also collected footwear impressions, a palm print, and forearm imprints for further examination.
FBI Agent Beau Mason shared additional updates, emphasizing that the suspect “appears to be of college-age” and blended into the campus environment. Authorities noted “a few breakthroughs” in tracking the shooter’s movements as he fled into a neighboring area. Kirk’s family has been described as “devastated,” with officials expressing empathy for their situation. Two individuals initially detained and later cleared of involvement have faced threats, prompting authorities to urge an end to harassment. While investigators possess “good video” and images of the suspect, they have not released them publicly as the probe continues. Kirk’s body has been transferred to the state’s medical examiner’s office, with plans to return it to his family.
