Vice President J.D. Vance announced he would host ‘The Charlie Kirk Show’ on Monday to pay tribute to Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. “Tomorrow, I will have the honor of hosting the Charlie Kirk Show. Please join me as I pay tribute to my friend,” Vance said. The show will stream on Rumble at 12:00pm ET Monday.
Vance and Kirk were close friends for many years—long before the now-VP was involved in politics. In a letter shared after Kirk’s death, Vance reflected on their time together, noting that Kirk was one of the first people he reached out to when he decided to run for the U.S. Senate in 2021. He credited Kirk with connecting him to figures who shaped his campaign, including Donald Trump Jr. Vance described Kirk as one of his most dedicated advocates and a key influence in shaping his political trajectory.
The vice president learned of Kirk’s shooting over text during a meeting in the West Wing. Messages from group chats where Kirk was included flooded in, with many expressing prayers for him. Vance posted a lengthy tribute on X, recalling how their friendship began after Kirk complimented his 2017 appearance on Tucker Carlson’s Fox show. “That moment of kindness began a friendship that lasted until today,” Vance said.
He highlighted Kirk’s intellectual curiosity and openness to changing his mind, noting their shared skepticism of Donald Trump in 2016 before coming to see him as a transformative figure. Vance also praised Kirk’s role in his Senate campaign, including introducing him to Trump Jr. and organizing events that bolstered his efforts. “Charlie was a true friend,” Vance said, adding that he often advised him to focus on key states while trusting others to handle different regions.
Vance described Kirk as a man of deep faith who valued open dialogue, even in hostile environments. He emphasized Kirk’s commitment to family and his ability to build connections across political lines. The vice president also shared how Kirk supported his family during the transition to the White House, offering guidance amid the challenges of public life.
On Thursday, Vance and second lady Usha Vance traveled to Utah to escort Kirk’s body back to Phoenix on Air Force Two. Friday’s show was hosted by Andrew Kolvet, featuring Kirk’s friends Tyler Bowyer, Jack Posobiec, and Blake Neff. The tribute underscored the impact of a man whose influence extended from grassroots activism to national politics.
