A 22-year-old man allegedly confessed to fatally shooting conservative figure Charlie Kirk during a public event, according to messages shared in an online chat. The suspect, identified as Tyler Robinson, reportedly sent a message to nearly three dozen individuals on the Discord platform hours before his arrest.
The chat, obtained by an anonymous source, included the statement: “Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this. I’m surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. Thanks for all the good times and laughs.” The message was sent on Thursday night, approximately two hours before Robinson’s apprehension.
Robinson was arrested on September 12 after his father turned him over to authorities following the release of FBI-issued photos seeking public assistance. Federal investigators are now examining whether online communities, including pro-trans groups, had prior knowledge of the planned attack.
The case has raised questions about the suspect’s motives and actions. Robinson allegedly drove to the campus in one outfit, changed clothes, committed the shooting, discarded his weapon, and returned to his car before traveling 250 miles home. He later confessed to his father and turned himself in, though he has not publicly admitted guilt.
Additionally, reports surfaced about unusual Amazon book listings published days before the incident, including a title with a publication date of September 9—just one day prior to Kirk’s death. Investigators are now scrutinizing the origins of these listings.
