The Department of Justice has filed a subpoena seeking the names of every election worker involved in the 2020 presidential election and all volunteers who assisted Fulton County election staffers.

According to legal filings, the subpoena also requests contact information for individuals who worked during the 2020 presidential election in Fulton County, Georgia. The Department of Justice filed this demand in April as part of an expanded effort to investigate the 2020 election—a matter President Donald Trump has continued to focus on since he lost the race.

Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts condemned the subpoena, stating: “the federal government once again is attempting to misuse criminal process.” He added that it represents “outrageous federal overreach designed to intimidate and to chill participation in elections,” and that his office has asked a judge to quash the subpoena.

In their motion to quash the grand jury subpoena, Fulton County’s Board of Registration and Elections described the Justice Department’s request as part of an effort to target and harass election officials, poll workers, and volunteers in Fulton County. They noted that President Trump continues to disparage these individuals while perpetuating his false claim that they “stole” the 2020 election.

The news of the subpoena comes months after FBI agents raided an election warehouse in Fulton County and seized ballots.
