In a startling incident in Garland, Texas, an unidentified father drew his legally owned firearm to repel a carjacker who had already crashed into two vehicles and was targeting a family in a parking lot near Highway 66 and Dairy Road.
Police reports indicate the suspect violently attempted to take control of a white Chevrolet Impala containing the father, several children, and two adult women. The father fired more than 10 rounds at the suspect, neutralizing the threat.
The carjacker later died in a local hospital from his injuries. All occupants of the vehicle escaped without harm.
Taylor Stanfield, a resident who has lived in the area for 13 years, shared his concerns: “It’s definitely very concerning,” he said. “My kids are playing outside all the time, my wife is out there with them, and like I said, if somebody like this were able to drive away in that vehicle, who knows what could have happened.”
The father remained at the scene and cooperated fully with police, turning over his firearm for investigation. His actions quickly garnered praise on social media.
Police continue to investigate but have not filed any charges as of publication.
