The FBI is executing search warrants at the office of Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore L. Louise Lucas, a Democrat, as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.
Federal law enforcement sources indicate that multiple search warrants approved by a federal judge are being served at Lucas’ office and a cannabis dispensary located next door.
Officials have not disclosed what specific evidence agents are seeking or whether any charges have been filed. It remains unclear how the cannabis dispensary is connected to the probe.
Journalist Nick Sortor reported that “multiple arrests have been made in the FBI raids connected to Democrat Virginia Senator L. Louise Lucas.” He added, “FBI SWAT teams pulled up with weapons drawn ordering everyone in the Virginia Senator Lucas-connected dispensary next to her office come out with their hands up, before making arrests. Ten locations are currently being raided after a judge signed off on federal search warrants. Virginia Senator Lucas is NOT in custody at this time.”
The raids have intensified political pressure on Senator Virginia Spanberger, who already faces declining polling numbers as critics accuse her of advancing a far-left agenda in the once-purple state.
This incident marks the latest challenge for Lucas, who serves as Virginia Senate President Pro Tempore and chair of the Finance & Appropriations Committee. Additionally, Lucas is co-owner of a cannabis business that previously faced scrutiny after an investigation found some products allegedly mislabeled or exceeding legal THC limits under Virginia law.
Lucas has long supported marijuana legalization in Virginia, co-sponsoring the 2021 law that legalized possession and continuing to advocate for a regulated retail market.
