She also left an indelible mark on audiences as Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather (1972) and its sequel, The Godfather Part II (1974), where she portrayed the tormented wife of mobster Michael Corleone.

Her career spanned decades, with notable roles in Reds, Marvin’s Room, and Something’s Gotta Give. Recent film appearances included Book Club, its sequel Poms, and her final onscreen role in 2024’s Summer Camp, co-starring with Kathy Bates and Alfre Woodard.
