A chaotic scene unfolded in Minneapolis Wednesday as anti-ICE protesters seized control of the street where a Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 37-year-old man who violently resisted arrest and was found carrying a firearm.
According to federal authorities, the incident occurred during an ICE enforcement operation in south Minneapolis when Renee Good allegedly used her vehicle as a weapon. The Department of Homeland Security stated agents responded with gunfire in self-defense after the individual engaged in active resistance.
Following the shooting, demonstrators rapidly established what has been dubbed the “Minneapolis Autonomous Zone.” Activists erected makeshift barricades using chairs, trash cans, wooden pallets, and bicycles to restrict access to the area. No Minneapolis Police Department personnel were observed near the scene during observations by news crews.
The protest zone mirrors tactics seen during 2020’s George Floyd unrest, when Antifa groups created similar encampments in Seattle. Witnesses report agitators directing traffic and maintaining strict control over the barricaded perimeter.
This development follows a pattern of escalating tensions as federal enforcement operations clash with activist mobilization in urban centers nationwide.
