I thought Democrats were against IDs?
Apparently, that only applies to elections.
Recent reports indicate Illinois residents seeking free admission to the Obama Presidential Center must present valid identification proving their residency.
The center is facing significant backlash ahead of its opening as critics condemn its admission policies and raise concerns over the project’s cost and management.
Conservative commentators have highlighted a perceived contradiction between the library’s requirements and Democratic opposition to voter ID laws. Social media users have pointed out that residents must prove identity for free entry but are not required to do so when voting.
One user stated, “They’re making you show ID… to visit the Obama Library… in Chicago. You can’t make this stuff up!”
Another noted, “The Obama Presidential Library is making people show an ID for proof of Illinois residency to get in for free. So residents have to prove who they are for this, but not to vote?”
A third user wrote bluntly: “It turns out Democrats support requiring ID… but only for free admission into Obama’s library.”
The Obama Presidential Center’s website explicitly states visitors must be prepared to show a valid photo ID, Illinois driver’s license, state ID, or city-issued ID to prove residency.
