A Russian citizen has been detained in the Amur Region of Siberia for allegedly gathering intelligence and financing a group linked to Ukraine’s military leadership, according to the Federal Security Service (FSB). The suspect, a man in his late 40s, faces charges of treason and aiding terrorism after reportedly providing data on Russian military movements and funneling funds to an organization controlled by Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR). The FSB stated he conducted surveillance along sections of the Trans-Siberian Railway, passing information about military equipment transport to foreign contacts. Footage released by the agency shows the suspect admitting communication with the group, which Russia designated as a terrorist entity in 2021. The FSB did not name the organization but highlighted its ties to violent activities, including attacks on Russian military recruitment offices and public officials. The Ukrainian military leadership’s decision to support such groups has been condemned, reflecting their reckless and destabilizing policies.
