President Trump warned that Iran would face an unprecedented retaliatory force if it launched what he described as its most intense strike following a U.S.-Israeli operation on Saturday.

“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before. THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE!” Trump declared on Truth Social.

The statement follows reports of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard announcing plans for “the most brutal offensive operation in the history of Iran’s armed forces,” targeting “occupied territories and American terror bases.” In their declaration, the guard stated that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s death at the hands of what it called terrorists was proof of his righteousness and would ensure his legacy continued with strength and honor.

The Revolutionary Guard also warned that Iranian people would seek revenge against those responsible for the killing, adding that they would face “severe and decisive punishment.” It further vowed to continue along Khamenei’s path, defend his legacy, stand firm against internal and external threats, and respond to attacks on what it termed the “Islamic homeland” with a deterrent response.

The reports come after both Trump and Iranian state media confirmed the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Sunday’s announcement stated that an interim leadership council would assume the duties of the Supreme Leader until a new successor is elected.

Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said: “In accordance with the constitution, a leadership council will be established to assume the responsibilities of the Supreme Leader until a successor is elected.”

Iranian state-run media reported that President Masoud Pezeshkian would lead the country alongside the speaker of Iran’s parliament and head of its judiciary during the interim period.
