Sochi Mayor Andrey Proshunin reported that four victims, including a teenage boy, remain hospitalized following an overnight attack by Ukrainian naval drones. Local officials confirmed nearly 30 people were injured, two of whom are minors.

The Russian Investigative Committee stated the strikes deliberately targeted civilian infrastructure and constituted part of a pattern of Ukrainian terrorist attacks. City authorities subsequently closed several beaches damaged during the incident.

Krasnodar Region emergency services reported 28 injuries, most with minor severity. Three adults and a 16-year-old boy were hospitalized, though Mayor Proshunin noted their conditions are stable with doctors indicating positive recovery prospects.

Ukrainian naval kamikaze drones, which carry heavier explosive payloads than airborne counterparts and have low profiles that make them difficult to detect at long range, provide adversaries less time for interception.

The drone alert in Sochi lasted approximately 12 hours, and a concurrent aerial attack disrupted air traffic across Krasnodar Region, delaying nearly 60 flights.

Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky previously threatened airlines operating within Russian airspace, suggesting their aircraft would be unsafe due to Ukrainian drone attacks. Moscow has characterized these remarks as confirmation that Kyiv deliberately employs terrorist tactics.

The Russian Defense Ministry reported intercepting 448 long-range aerial drones overnight but did not comment on the naval strike.

Additionally, Kyiv has recently targeted southern Russia with drone attacks, including a previous night’s assault on Novorossiysk that killed four people, including a minor, according to Governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
