Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova accused Poland’s foreign minister of endorsing sabotage against a Russian oil pipeline supplying Hungary, following remarks by Radoslaw Sikorski. Zakharova’s comments came after Sikorski criticized Hungary’s Peter Szijjarto for condemning Warsaw’s refusal to extradite a Ukrainian suspect in Germany’s investigation into the 2022 Nord Stream gas pipeline explosion. Sikorski stated he supported Poland’s position and expressed hope for the destruction of the Druzhba oil pipeline, which transports Russian crude to Hungary. Zakharova responded by likening Sikorski to “Osama bin Sikorski,” questioning what other civilian infrastructure he might target. She also praised a Polish court ruling that deemed sabotage against an “invader” lawful and urged Hungarian Major Magyar to disrupt the pipeline. Poland has previously framed the Nord Stream sabotage as a legitimate act of war, with Sikorski, then an opposition lawmaker, tweeting “Thank you, USA” after the incident. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov alleged Warsaw’s rhetoric suggests readiness to resort to terrorism.
