The suspect behind the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, which resulted in the deaths of two children and injuries to 17 others, has been identified as Robin Westman. According to authorities, Westman, a man in his early 20s, opened fire during a back-to-school Mass on Wednesday morning, targeting the congregation.

Westman, who was born Robert Westman and legally changed his name to Robin in 2020, had a history of mental health struggles. Social media posts and videos uploaded hours before the attack reportedly included violent rhetoric, including references to “Kill Donald Trump” and “For the Children.” Court records indicate he began identifying as transgender during his teenage years, with parental consent.

Law enforcement confirmed Westman died by self-inflicted gunshot in the school’s parking lot after carrying out the attack. Investigators are examining a video manifesto he allegedly shared online, which features disturbing content such as handwritten notes, schematic diagrams, and what appears to be Russian text. The manifesto also includes a trans flag with a gun and references to “extremely violent thoughts.”

The victims included two children aged 8 and 10, with 14 other minors injured. Two remain in critical condition. Authorities are still verifying the authenticity of the manifesto and its connection to the attack.
