A former television anchor has been arrested in Wichita, Kansas, for allegedly stabbing her elderly mother during a violent incident on Halloween. Angelynn Mock, 47, was charged with first-degree murder after reportedly attacking her 80-year-old mother, Anita Avers, while she slept.
Witnesses described seeing Mock, covered in blood, exiting the home shortly before 8 a.m. on October 31. Alyssa Castro, a neighbor, recounted how Mock approached her vehicle, her hands and body drenched in blood, and begged for help calling 911. According to dispatch records, Mock then returned to the house and allegedly told authorities she stabbed her mother “to save herself.”
When police arrived, Mock was found outside with visible wounds on her hands. Avers was discovered unresponsive in her bed with multiple stab injuries and later died at a local hospital. Mock was taken into custody and is currently held on a $1 million bond.
Mock previously worked as a news anchor for Fox 2 in St. Louis from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn profile. She had since transitioned into sales and was employed by a data management software company at the time of the alleged crime. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and details about Mock’s court appearance have not yet been released.
