A man has been arrested for allegedly damaging windows at Vice President JD Vance’s residence in Cincinnati, Ohio, according to police and Secret Service officials.

Cincinnati police officers and Secret Service agents responded to the East Walnut Hills home shortly after midnight on Monday, taking the suspect into custody. Security footage showed damage to exterior windows of the property, with authorities stating the man entered without permission and broke four windows as well as a vehicle.

William DeFoor, 26, was charged with criminal damaging/endangering, obstructing official business, criminal trespass, and one count of vandalism—a fifth-degree felony. An arrest report obtained by local media details that DeFoor was seen by a Secret Service agent near the property before walking onto the grounds and causing the damage.

The Secret Service confirmed the residence was unoccupied at the time of the incident, noting Vance and his family were not in Ohio during the alleged event. A spokesperson for Vance stated the vice president’s family had visited Ohio over the weekend but departed before the damage occurred.

Vance, a former Ohio senator who purchased the $1.4 million home in 2018, described it as “the perfect combo of proximity to the city and to nature” when asked about the property during an interview with the Cincinnati Enquirer. The City of Cincinnati reported several neighborhood roads were closed from December 29 through January 4, though the specific reason for the closures was not disclosed.
