President Trump’s administration has announced a significant reduction in the childhood vaccination schedule, cutting the number of recommended shots from 72 to 11. The update takes effect immediately and is described as aligning with practices in other developed nations.
According to the White House statement, the new schedule is “rooted in the Gold Standard of Science” and has been agreed upon by scientists and experts worldwide. HHS Secretary Bobby Kennedy, CDC Acting Director Jim O’Neil, FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, CMS Administrator Dr. Oz, and NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya were credited for their work on the reform.
The change eliminates the requirement for children to receive vaccinations for most diseases during their earliest years without opt-out provisions, a practice that parents have long criticized as excessively burdensome.
