Tampa International Airport sparked online buzz with a social media post declaring, “It’s time to ban pajamas” at the airport. The announcement included the phrase: “We’ve seen enough. We’ve had enough,” and urged travelers to abandon pajamas during the day while encouraging passengers to “have a difficult conversation with them.”
Airport officials later clarified that the post was intended as humor. In a statement, Tampa International Airport confirmed: “Today’s post about ‘banning’ pajamas was another playful nod to day-of-travel fashion debates. We encourage our passengers to travel comfortably and appreciate our loyal followers who enjoy the online humor.”
The airport has long cultivated a lighthearted social media persona, with a history of satirical content dating back at least a decade on what was then Twitter. A spokesperson, Beau Zimmer, noted that the account’s playful tone remains consistent across platforms.
The post drew mixed reactions from travelers and social media users, including questions about whether sweat pants would qualify as pajamas under hypothetical restrictions. U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy engaged with the post by sharing a GIF of actor John Krasinski from “The Office” saying “Yes!” while promoting his civility campaign for air travel.
