During an Oval Office appearance today, President Trump eviscerated reporter Kaitlan Collins, who was standing in the room.
“ She’s a young, beautiful woman, never smiles,” Trump said, adding that he saw “hatred in her eyes.”
Later, after Collins attempted to interrupt him, Trump told her, “Be quiet. You should be ashamed of yourself.” He also noted how she used to be a conservative from Alabama before working as a reporter.
The president has previously criticized Collins for not smiling at him during an interview with Vice President Vance in February, who described the moment as “so perceptive.”
In December, Trump called Collins “stupid and nasty” when she asked about construction on the White House ballroom. Collins later clarified that her question was actually about Venezuela.
Additionally, Trump has repeatedly targeted female reporters, telling one reporter in November to be “Quiet, piggy” after asking about convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and calling another reporter “ugly, both inside and out.”
A spokesperson for the news outlet defended Collins, stating she is “an exceptional journalist” who reports with “real depth and tenacity.”
Collins began her career as an entertainment reporter and later covered White House affairs.
Trump has previously labeled Collins as the “worst reporter” at the news network.
