The Los Angeles mayoral count has continued beyond Election Day, with late and overnight mail-in ballots now shifting the race into critical election integrity territory.
Late ballot updates being tracked online have begun eroding Spencer Pratt’s lead in the county. Conservative accounts on social media platforms have highlighted a consistent pattern: Nithya Raman is gaining ground on Pratt as the count progresses.
The most recent snapshot shows that the viral screenshot circulating online depicted Karen Ruth Bass at 172,720 votes, while Pratt held 151,149 and Raman had 110,848. In contrast, the current official Los Angeles County readback places Bass at 183,701, Pratt at 157,116, and Raman at 119,809.
This shift reveals a clear trend: over the past 24 hours, Bass added 10,981 votes, Raman gained 8,961, and Pratt received 5,967. Consequently, Raman has closed nearly 3,000 votes on Pratt, reducing her lead from 40,301 to 37,307.
The movement that sparked widespread discussion was this specific pattern of gains. Matt Van Swol described the late ballot breakdown as “literally impossible,” questioning how nearly every late California vote could be distributed outside Pratt’s orbit. Meanwhile, MAGA Voice characterized the overnight mail-in gains as a “steal happening in front of everyone.”
Two key factors explain this volatility: mail ballots account for 71.86% of votes counted so far, and voter turnout remains at only 23.69% of registered voters. This high percentage of mail ballots means every late update can significantly alter the public perception of the race.
Eric Daugherty estimates that approximately 322,000 votes remain uncounted, with Raman closing roughly 3,000 in a single update while trailing by about 37,000. Pratt remains ahead for the second runoff slot and has not lost the lead according to official county numbers.
Conservatives are emphasizing the consistency of this late-count pattern. As the snapshots driving the debate show Raman gaining and Pratt’s margin thinning with a large number of ballots still outstanding, the race remains under intense scrutiny.
