President Trump has once again fueled speculation about a potential 2028 presidential run through a series of posts on his Truth Social platform. On Saturday afternoon, the former president shared multiple AI-generated images depicting himself alongside George Washington. One image showed both leaders signing documents with feather pens, while another portrayed them riding horses in a grassy field—Trump atop a black stallion and Washington on a white one under a setting sun. A separate black-and-white photo featured Trump wearing what appeared to be a “Trump 2028” hat, accompanied by the caption “We are going to win.”
The posts followed Trump’s longstanding pattern of hinting at future campaigns. Earlier this week, he stated during a press briefing at Joint Base Andrews that “the law is very strong” regarding his potential candidacy for a third term, adding, “I’d love to run, but the law is very strong.” This comment echoes his repeated assertions that constitutional barriers could be circumvented, though critics have long dismissed such claims as legally impossible.
Section 1 of the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution bars any individual from being elected president more than twice—a rule ratified in 1951 after Franklin D. Roosevelt’s unprecedented four-term tenure. Trump has consistently walked a fine line between joking about seeking additional terms and signaling serious intentions, including remarks at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner where he quipped, “Just like my presidency, the second time is always better. It’s always better. And the third time will be better yet. I’m only kidding.”
