U.S. lawmakers, Trump administration officials, and others impacted by conservative pundit Charlie Kirk’s life have gathered in Washington, D.C., for a prayer vigil. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. were among those in attendance. The event, hosted at the Kennedy Center, aimed to honor Kirk’s legacy following his fatal shooting at a campus event in Utah. Attendees included Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, Republican Reps. Andy Biggs (Ariz.) and Anna Paulina Luna (Fla.), and Arizona state Sen. Jake Hoffman (R), who organized the vigil. Johnson emphasized the need to uphold Kirk’s message amid widespread grief and fear, stating, “Our friend Charlie would not want us to be consumed by despair.” A memorial service is scheduled for Sept. 21 in Glendale, Ariz., with President Trump planning to attend.
