A vigil for Charlie Kirk in Pensacola, Florida, turned chaotic after a mural of the Turning Point USA founder was spray-painted over. Police reported a fight broke out near the Graffiti Bridge after 6 p.m., with one individual requiring medical attention. A suspect fled the scene, and officers noted that pepper spray was used during the altercation. The victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries, while the person who sprayed the pepper spray left before police arrived.
The Pensacola Police Department has urged anyone with information about the incident or witnesses to come forward. The mural, originally commissioned by Scott Yingling, was re-created after being defaced but was later painted over again, as shown in a social media post from The Graffiti Bridge. By Monday morning, the artwork had been completely obscured.
Yingling emphasized the importance of free expression, stating, “That’s the country we live in and it’s only because we live in this country that we have the freedom to express ourselves.” Event organizer Steven Pilgrim described the gathering as a call for peace, saying, “It’s time that we just stand up in a peaceful manner and show the world that we are here to be a beacon of hope and love.”
