Border Czar Tom Homan has been a prominent figure in discussions about U.S. immigration policy, known for his direct approach to addressing what he describes as an urgent crisis. Under his leadership, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported over 527,000 deportations and more than 1.6 million self-deportations during the Trump administration.
During an interview with Laura Ingraham, Homan suggested that deportation numbers would increase significantly in the coming months. The DHS highlighted record-breaking figures, stating that over 527,000 illegal aliens were removed under Trump’s leadership, with more than 2 million individuals leaving the U.S. voluntarily or through enforcement actions. Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin emphasized that these efforts marked a turning point, citing reduced migration through Panama’s Darien Gap and increased arrests of criminal illegal aliens.
The administration has also promoted a program offering $1,000 and a free flight to encourage self-deportation. Officials stated that law enforcement continues to prioritize removing individuals charged with serious crimes, including violence and drug offenses. Under Homan’s supervision, thousands of children were reportedly identified as part of these operations.
