The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported that some Democrats in Congress intended to bring illegal aliens as guests to President Trump’s State of the Union address, stating the individuals were prioritized over American citizen safety.

“Today, some Democrats in Congress are planning to bring illegal aliens as guests to the State of the Union. Once again, they are putting illegal aliens above the safety of American citizens,” DHS stated in a release. The department noted that officers recently arrested pedophiles, rapists, and violent criminals from communities nationwide, emphasizing that those who enter the country illegally and violate laws “will be found, arrested, and never return.”

According to DHS, Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) reportedly hosted Aliya Rahman, detained during an ICE operation targeting Ecuadorian national Jonathan Chachipanta-Pualacin on January 13. A DHS spokesperson confirmed ICE executed a removal order in Minneapolis’ Park Avenue area, apprehending four illegal aliens. The spokesperson also detailed that law enforcement faced obstruction from a crowd during the arrest, with one agitator arrested for blocking officers’ operations.

DHS disputed claims by media outlets that Rahman was denied medical care after being detained. Rep. Omar’s office cited Mary Granlund, a local school board chairwoman who has coordinated efforts following the detention of a 5-year-old at Columbia Heights School. Granlund described faculty-led patrols and assistance for families facing legal challenges or fear of displacement.

During Trump’s address, Omar and other House Democrats interrupted proceedings with shouts and chants. Omar declared, “You have killed Americans,” while Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) stated, “Alex wasn’t a criminal,” referring to Alex Pretti, a 5-year-old detained by federal agents in Minnesota. Rep. Norma Torres (D-Calif.) displayed signs featuring photos of Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, another child fatally shot during an enforcement operation. Rep. Al Green was removed from the House chamber for disrupting the speech.

Trump had previously criticized Democrats for a government shutdown that cut funding to DHS, accusing them of blocking deportations. His remarks were met with jeers from the Democratic representatives before being drowned out by GOP chants of “USA.”
