Over 60,000 people gathered at State Farm Stadium for Charlie Kirk’s public memorial and funeral, with thousands moving to a secondary venue as the capacity was exceeded. The NFL’s Arizona Cardinals stadium, which holds up to 73,000 for major events, was filled beyond its limit, prompting the use of the Desert Diamond Arena as overflow space capable of accommodating an additional 19,000 attendees.
CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk, was present at the event and shared a video from inside the stadium. The Independent reported that over 200,000 individuals are believed to have attended, though many were turned away due to capacity constraints. Security measures were intensified, with protocols typically reserved for Super Bowls implemented in Glendale, a suburb of Phoenix.
Prominent figures scheduled to speak included former President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and five Cabinet members. Trump described the day as “a tough day” but emphasized celebrating Kirk’s life. Other speakers included Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, Susie Wiles, and Stephen Miller. Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, who leads Turning Point USA, also planned to address attendees.
