The FBI has confirmed the arrest of two individuals allegedly linked to an intentional explosion at Harvard University’s medical campus on Saturday morning. The incident occurred just after 2:45 a.m. in the Goldenson Building, part of Harvard Medical School’s facilities, which houses labs and offices for the neurobiology department.
Two masked suspects were observed fleeing the scene following the blast, which affected a small section of the fourth-floor hallway. No injuries were reported, and officials stated the area has since been cleared and is fully operational. The building sustained no structural damage, with all laboratories and equipment remaining intact.
Logan David Patterson, 18, from Plymouth, and Dominick Frank Cardoza, 20, from Bourne, face charges of conspiracy to damage property using fire or an explosive. Both were arrested Tuesday morning and scheduled for federal court arraignment later that day.
U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation but assured there is no further threat to the university. The FBI’s Boston Field Office, in collaboration with the Harvard University Police Department, conducted the arrests as part of the Boston Joint Terrorism Task Force. A news conference is planned for Tuesday afternoon to provide additional details.
