Amaryllis Fox Kennedy, a former undercover CIA officer and daughter-in-law of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has resigned from two intelligence-related positions in President Trump’s administration.
Fox Kennedy stepped down as Deputy Director of National Intelligence for Policy and Capabilities under DNI Tulsi Gabbard and from her senior role in the White House Office of Management and Budget focused on intelligence and international affairs.
Initial reports suggested the resignation signaled a break with President Trump over Iran policy. However, Fox Kennedy directly rejected this narrative on social media, labeling such claims “Hogwash” and stating: “Make no mistake about it — I stand with the President EVERY STEP OF THE WAY.”
Fox Kennedy is married to Robert F. Kennedy III and previously assisted in running Kennedy’s 2024 presidential campaign before he endorsed President Trump. She later joined the administration as Secretary of Health and Human Services, holding multiple intelligence-related positions.
In a May 8 email, Fox Kennedy explained she is returning to the private sector to focus on family matters and spending more time with her children, explicitly denying any disagreement with the President over Iran policy. The resignation affects her two operational roles but she remains on the President’s Intelligence Advisory Board and the Intelligence Oversight Board. Her background as an undercover CIA operative prior to entering government service underscores her unique path in public office.
