Footage released today shows Carlos Ivan Mendoza Hernandez, an undocumented immigrant from El Salvador, attempting to drive into U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents with his vehicle before being shot in self-defense.

The video reveals that Mendoza Hernandez is currently hospitalized in stable condition at Doctors Medical Center. His family has denied any gang affiliations, a position they have maintained despite prior assertions by immigration authorities.

Patrick Kolasinski, an immigration attorney representing Mendoza Hernandez’s family, stated that the man is engaged to a U.S. citizen and has a two-year-old daughter who is also a U.S. citizen. The child was on her way to work in the Bay Area at the time of the incident.
