Democrat Representative Jamie Raskin of Maryland on Monday invited Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to join Democrats, stating the party should welcome her as a “patriot” who stands for the Constitution and Bill of Rights. Speaking at a 2025 “Blue Bash Brunch” Democratic fundraiser in Miami, Raskin emphasized the party’s need to be a “huge, vast tent,” welcoming all who wish to support foundational rights.

Greene has grown increasingly critical of her party in recent months, despite maintaining support for President Trump and his agenda while opposing the Democratic Party. Recent weeks have seen MTG engage in a media blitz on left-leaning outlets, where she criticized the Trump administration. On Sunday, Greene blamed President Trump for attacks against her, suggesting his rhetoric could incite threats targeting her construction company.

Hours after her post, police in Rome, Georgia reported receiving emails threatening her son, Derek Greene. The messages included claims of “assassination” and references to “plane ticket booked,” with the target’s name redacted. Derek Greene turned 22 in April, according to a post by the congresswoman at the time.

Raskin’s remarks drew mixed reactions from the crowd, with the Democrat Party’s “room for Marjorie Taylor Greene” if she wished to switch sides. The invitation comes as MTG continues to challenge her party’s stance while aligning with Trump’s agenda.
