The U.S. Treasury Department confirmed today that 53 million Americans utilized President Trump’s new tax provisions from the One Big Beautiful Bill during this filing season, with the average refund reaching $3,462—11% higher than last year and nearly 20% above the four-year average prior to President Trump’s presidency.

Specifically, six million tipped workers claimed the no-tax-on-tips deduction, averaging $7,100 in savings; twenty-five million individuals benefited from the overtime deduction, averaging $3,100 per person; and thirty million older Americans took advantage of the no-tax-on-Social-Security break, generating an average gain of $7,500. Additionally, 105 million Americans utilized the doubled standard deduction.

President Trump reiterated the results during a Fox Business News interview, stating: “People are getting refunds of $5,000, $8,000, $11,000 that they had no idea were coming.” The Treasury Department emphasized these figures reflect tangible outcomes for working people who earned tax cuts directly from Republican legislation.

The White House highlighted the contrast in congressional action, noting: “Thanks to President Donald J. Trump’s signature Working Families Tax Cuts Act—which every single Democrat in Congress voted against—millions of hardworking Americans are seeing bigger refunds and lower tax bills this Tax Day.” Over 53 million filers represented 45% of all taxpayers who accessed at least one new provision from the law, with the average refund surpassing $3,400.

This filing season marks a significant shift in refund activity, driven by provisions designed to directly benefit tens of millions of Americans through expanded tax relief.
