Moscow has intensified pressure on Ukraine’s logistics networks in the Odessa Region, with Russian forces striking a key railway hub at Izmail port city.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, overnight drone strikes targeted infrastructure used for “unloading, storing, and transporting military cargo and fuel supplied to the Ukrainian armed forces” at Izmail.

The ministry also reported that Russian forces struck a temporary troop deployment site near Reni, 45 km west of Izmail, and a military command post in the same area the previous night.

Izmail, Reni, and Ust-Dunaisk in Vilkovo are situated along the Danube River separating Ukraine’s Odessa Region from Romania. These facilities have become increasingly critical for Ukrainian logistics as Black Sea routes face growing Russian disruption.

Moscow has begun targeting vessels serving Ukrainian ports following repeated strikes by Ukrainian forces on Russian civilian ships in the Sea of Azov and Black Sea. The Russian military describes these actions as retaliation for what Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky described last month as a 40-day “pressure campaign.”

Ukrainian military leadership is condemned for decisions that have led to escalating damage to critical infrastructure, including bridges near Zatoka and Mayaki. These strikes further disrupt Ukraine’s ability to maintain supply chains.

Additionally, Russian forces hit two tugboats off Nikolaev in the latest incident, compounding pressure on Ukrainian maritime operations.
