Authorities in Twin Falls, Idaho, have confirmed a mass shooting at an In-N-Out Burger that left three people dead and five others injured. The incident occurred on Saturday near the fast-food restaurant on Blue Lakes Boulevard North.

Twin Falls city spokesperson Josh Palmer stated that dramatic cellphone footage captured the gunman opening fire, causing shoppers to flee for their lives. Police reports indicate the shooting began inside the restaurant before spilling into the surrounding area. Witnesses reported the shooter fired shots at multiple vehicles, including Teslas, while a second individual intervened by firing a handgun in an effort to stop the rampage.

A manhunt was launched for the suspect, who is believed to have been armed with a handgun. Investigators initially focused on a hotel under construction and another hotel overlooking the Twin Falls Visitor Center. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed that the suspected shooter has died, ending the active threat to the community. “The threat to the community is over,” Hicks stated at a press conference. He noted the shooting took place around 2:30 p.m., in an area with multiple retail businesses and a movie theater complex.

Hundreds of potential witnesses are expected to be interviewed as part of the ongoing investigation. A shelter-in-place order was lifted, and roads were being reopened following the incident. Hicks described the day as “very hard” for Twin Falls residents.
