President Trump delivered late-stage endorsements to two Republican candidates in contested governor’s primaries on Friday, shifting the dynamics in South Carolina and Iowa ahead of Tuesday’s votes. The late support for Lt. Gov. Pamela Evette in South Carolina and Rep. Randy Feenstra in Iowa has intensified competition in both races.

In Iowa, Trump publicly endorsed Feenstra on Truth Social, declaring him “MAGA all the way” and highlighting his record as a fourth-generation Iowan who previously won statewide elections in 2016, 2020, and 2024. The statement emphasized Feenstra’s promises to boost economic growth, cut taxes, promote U.S.-made goods, strengthen national security, and uphold law enforcement.

Evette faces a crowded field of Republican opponents in South Carolina, including Rep. Nancy Mace and Attorney General Alan Wilson. Trump also indicated that Henry McMaster Jr., son of the current governor, would serve as Evette’s running mate should she win.

Both candidates’ rivals responded to Trump’s support with direct criticisms. Rep. Mace acknowledged her respect for Trump but asserted South Carolina’s systemic corruption and pledged plans to eliminate state income tax and reduce living costs. Attorney General Wilson echoed concerns about the state’s political landscape while noting both primaries are set for Tuesday.
