President Trump addressed reporters in the Oval Office on Wednesday regarding Iran, Kuwait, and ongoing ceasefire negotiations. He stated that American forces are protected, talks are progressing, and pressure is being applied to Tehran.

When asked about Iran’s targeting of U.S. forces and an overnight attack on Kuwait that injured dozens, Trump indicated that American forces shut down the incident quickly. He added that U.S. forces “nipped it in the bud very quickly.”

Trump also reported that negotiations are proceeding “very well” and could result in a deal by the weekend, though he noted that no final agreement exists yet.

The most explicit commitment came when Trump discussed the Strait of Hormuz. He stated that if a memorandum is signed, the strait would open immediately, though he acknowledged that mines may require initial checks.

U.S. Central Command confirmed that Iran launched drones targeting U.S. forces in Kuwait, which were intercepted by air defenses with no personnel or assets harmed.
