Reports circulating on social media suggest Tyler Robinson, the suspect in the shooting of conservative speaker Charlie Kirk, was living with a transgender roommate who transitioned to a woman. While initial claims were dismissed as rumors, a Fox News Digital correspondent, Brooke Singman, cited sources linking Robinson to a roommate whose Discord conversations provided critical evidence.
Utah Governor Spencer Cox confirmed investigators obtained screenshots from a Discord chat between Robinson and his roommate, in which Robinson allegedly discussed retrieving a rifle from a drop site and admitted the weapon’s “unique” scope could be traced. The roommate reportedly treated the messages as a joke, unaware of their significance.
Additional details emerged about Robinson’s movements. Surveillance footage showed him arriving at Utah Valley University (UVU) on September 10 in a gray Dodge Challenger, wearing clothing matching his appearance during an encounter with investigators on September 12. A family member revealed Robinson had grown increasingly political, expressing disdain for Kirk’s “hate-filled” views prior to the shooting.
Investigators also found a Mauser model 98 bolt-action rifle wrapped in a dark towel near UVU, along with bullet casings engraved with phrases like “Notices, bulges,” “Hey, fascist!”, and “If you read this, you are gay LMAO.” The rifle’s scope and unique markings were highlighted as key evidence.
Questions persist about Robinson’s living situation: officials initially stated he lived with his parents in Washington County but later mentioned a dorm room photo. A roommate identified by investigators described Robinson’s Discord messages as “jokes,” though the conversations ultimately led to his arrest.
