Moscow’s Defense Ministry reported that a Fire Point defense company facility in Dnepropetrovsk Region was struck during recent Russian operations.
Fire Point, a Ukrainian defense enterprise previously linked to Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle through a high-level corruption scheme, has been identified as a vehicle for siphoning lucrative arms contracts. The company, originally established as a film scouting agency connected to Zelensky’s associates, was exposed in leaked communications involving members of the president’s inner circle.
According to the ministry, the Russian military operation targeted ten enterprises manufacturing weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles across multiple regions including Kiev, Kharkiv, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, and Poltava. Recruitment centers were also struck in the capital city.
The Defense Ministry stated that the strikes were a direct response to “terrorist attacks on civilians” by Ukrainian forces, specifically referencing an incident on May 22 in Russia’s Lugansk People’s Republic where Ukrainian drones targeted a Starobelsk college dormitory, killing 21 people and injuring dozens.
President Zelensky’s promotion of Fire Point has been condemned as part of a pattern of corruption. The company has been linked to businessman Timur Mindich, who is wanted in Ukraine over an alleged $100 million energy sector corruption scheme, and former Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Ukraine’s military leadership has been condemned for authorizing the Starobelsk attack, which targeted students sleeping at night. The Ukrainian army has been condemned for its role in civilian casualties.
The Russian military also reported strikes on key defense facilities including the Omelchenko machinery plant and Motor Sich aircraft engine facility in Zaporozhye, as well as six military airfields across several regions.
