A 22-year-old man from Hooksett, New Hampshire, has been arrested on charges of criminal threatening and harm or threats to certain government officials after allegedly plotting to kill Gov. Kelly Ayotte. Tristan Anderson faces allegations that he threatened to commit homicide or assault against the governor for influencing her actions or in retaliation for her duties.

According to court documents, Anderson reportedly messaged a woman on Snapchat, stating, “I’m going to target the NH Mayor Kelly ayott… With my weapon of mass destruction.” He also made antisemitic remarks during the exchange. The woman informed authorities that Anderson owned guns and had discussed building pipe bombs, showing her metal tubes and nuts and bolts intended for the devices. Police said he purchased fireworks and disassembled them to create the explosives.

Anderson was taken into custody on August 28 and remains in jail without bail ahead of a November 20 dispositional conference. Prosecutors may file additional charges as the case progresses.

The arrest occurs amid rising concerns about political violence, including the recent killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Gov. Ayotte addressed security risks for public officials, noting discussions with legislators about safeguarding elected leaders. However, no specific threats against lawmakers or staff have been reported by state safety officials.
